Scientist, Discovery Biology (Contract)

Vigil Neuroscience is the world's first microglia-focused therapeutics company. Our purpose is clear: to treat rare and common neurodegenerative diseases by restoring the vigilance of the microglia, the sentinel cells of the brain's immune system. We are utilizing the tools of modern neuroscience drug development across multiple therapeutic modalities to rapidly deliver precision-based therapies to improve the lives of patients and their families. 

Vigil is looking for a skilled and motivated Scientist to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for execution of assays for novel therapeutics targeting neuroinflammation and neurodegeneration, with a primary focus on microglia. The ideal candidate is highly organized, independent, and collaborative.

Key Responsibilities:
 

• Execution of in vitro and ex vivo cell-based and biochemical assays.
• Culture and maintenance of cell lines and microglia (rodent and iPSC) for use in functional assays.
• Presenting data and ideas to cross-functional internal project teams.
• Keeping up-to-date and well-organized records of experiments in an electronic notebook.

Candidate Profile:
 

• Extensive experience with flow cytometry-based experiments on in vitro and ex vivo cell/tissue samples – designing multiplexed panels, running cells on the cytometer, analyzing data, organizing, and sharing results.
• Experience with aseptic technique and culture of cell lines and primary cells.
• Experience in execution of cell-based assays, as well as functional immune cell assays.
• Familiarity with molecular biology techniques - western blotting, ELISA, AlphaLISA, HTRF, MSD, etc.
• Ability to multitask and work independently.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• To considered for this role, you must have a B.S. and 3+ years industry or academic laboratory experience, or M.S. and 1+ years industry or academic experience.
